Problem

Brisbane Pump Action struggled for five years to find enough qualified mechanics and hydraulic specialists to maintain their fleet. They wanted to reduce their spend on maintenance and do this work in-house.  However, the company faced:

  • Long-term recruitment struggles – Full-time job ads over five years failed to attract the local talent they needed.
  • The need to outsource works – This resulted in inefficient and escalating operational costs.
  • Industry-wide labour shortages – Australia’s construction sector faced a severe and growing skills crisis.

Recruit

TPRC identified the candidate requirements and developed a customised, highly targeted recruitment sourcing program. This Client Profile Identity Targeting (CPIT) program was then run through our extensive database and network to identify the most appropriate talent.

“I just wrote out the same ad, gave it to TPRC and she came back with a bucket load of people,” said Director Jason Burnett.

Communication & Language Assessments

TPRC’s in-house English proficiency assessment program further identified the most suitable candidates.

“Their English was a lot better than I thought. Once they got here, they’re easy to communicate with”, said Director Jason Burnett.

Pre-Screening & Assessment

The identified candidates underwent further technical evaluations and interviews to confirm their suitability and skill level prior to Brisbane Pump’s arrival in Manila

Trades Testing

All pre-qualified candidates attended a final workshop-based skills assessment program with the Brisbane Pump team in the Philippines.

“We narrowed it down to our top candidates.  We came here to watch them work. When it came time to trades testing, they could actually put their skills to practice, it was really impressive,” said Director, Jason Burnett

“You have to do the trip.  A full day watching them work and watching them do their stuff. Until you put it into practice, it’s totally different. it’s worth the trip.”

Job Offer

The successful candidates were provided with job offers to join Brisbane Pump Action in Australia

Compliance

Candidates were supported through the Trades Recognition Australia Cert III skills assessment as required for Australian immigration 482 Visa program.

Lodge

On successful completion and full documentation compliance, Nomination and Visa applications were lodged.

Deploy

The TPRC pre-deployment seminar prepared candidates and helped them to set up Bank Accounts, TFN and Health Insurance.

The TPRC Lifetime Relationship Program provides regular check-ins to ensure a successful outcome is experienced for clients, candidates, and their families.
